[41.05] On the Suitability of A Dwarfs as Mid-infrared Spectroscopic Standards

The Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) on the Spitzer Space Telescope is observing a suite of A dwarfs and K giants in order to check and improve its own spectrophotometric calibration and to cross-calibrate with MIPS and IRAC. The sample of A dwarfs observed with the IRS and MIPS is large enough to enable initial estimates of how well the mid-infrared spectral properties of A dwarfs can be predicted from their optical and near-infrared properties. In particular, we will address the question of contamination from previously undetected debris disks around these stars.
