I will discuss possible observational strategies for studying the epoch of reionization. Three main observational approaches seem most promising in the near future: 21 cm emission and absorption, Lyman-alpha absorption againt high redshift quasars, and statistics of Lyman-alpha emitters.
I will also mention theoretical challenges that must be overcome before accurate predictions can be made for these observational tests.
