[63.03] Anomalous I-band Light Curve of U Gem in Quiescence

J.C. Smith, R.D. Dietz (U. of Northern Colorado), M.C. Smith (Front Range C. C.)

We present four-color CCD photometry of U Geminorum covering a nine-hour (2.1 periods) interval obtained twelve days before the February 2004 outburst. The light curves in B,V, and R show a single maximum and are consistent with published results. The I-band light curve exhibits a secondary maximum 0.1 mag fainter than the primary maximum. We discuss possible explanations for this observation.
