NASA Origins Science for Local Teachers

This special session intended to inform local classroom teachers in Denver-area K-12 and community colleges about the status of NASA Origins missions and their relation to astrobiology research will be coupled with a public talk later that evening. This will immediately follow the "Cool Science" session aimed at the same audience. The Origins session will consist of presentations for K-12 teachers regarding: 1) scientific results from NASA's Spitzer infrared space observatory, 2) curricular idea and activities relating to infrared radiation and infrared astronomy, 3) information about Venus' transit of the Sun in June 2004 and how to present that in a classroom, 4) NASA's Kepler mission to discover extrasolar planets via transit observations, 5) scientific results from the Mars rovers, and 6) curricular material and activities relating to Mars exploration.
