[2.08] A Deep Chandra Image of the Core of the Centaurus Cluster

The core of the nearby Centaurus cluster (A3526 at z=0.0104) was imaged by Chandra for 200ks in April 2004. We present detailed X-ray colour images of the cluster. The X-ray plume seen in our shorter Chandra image is resolved into delicate soft X-ray filaments and the holes in the X-ray emission associated with the radio source lobes are well defined. The nature of circular structures at larger radii in the image will be discussed.
