We present an analysis of high resolution Chandra spectra of the contact binaries 44i Boo and VW Cep in order to examine the chemical composition of their coronae. The emerging pattern of coronal abundances in different stars is of a general trend in which low activity stars exhibit a solar-like FIP effect that is seen to gradually reverse itself to a pattern in which high FIP elements are enhanced in more active stars. We compare the abundances in the coronae of 44i Boo and VW Cep to those of other active stars and discuss the influence of stellar parameters and rotation rate in determining the chemical fractionation of coronal plasma.
