We have performed X--ray spectral analysis of all the spectroscopically identified sources detected in the Chandra Deep Field North and Chandra Deep Field South observations.
A total of 250 spectra were stacked in 5 different redshift bins over the range z=0.5-1.7. A single absorbed power law model does not provide an acceptable description of the data and significant residuals are always present at the expected position of Fe K\alpha line at 6.4 keV in all the redshift bins.
A significant improvement in the fit quality has been achieved adding a gaussian line component confirming the detection of Iron line emission at least up to z=1.7. The measured line equivalent widths are compared with the prediction of X--ray background synthesis models and suggest a constant line intensity at all redshift bins.
