[16.15] Imaging Performance of the Nuclear Compton Telescope (NCT)

M. E. Bandstra, S. E. Boggs, J. D. Bowen, W. Coburn, C. B. Wunderer (SSL/UCB)

In this paper we explore NCT's angular resolution to gamma-ray point sources (see related papers by Bowen and Coburn on the NCT instrument). We first present simulated results acquired by performing Monte Carlo simulations of multiple gamma-ray point sources, reconstructing the Compton scattering events, and performing a List-Mode Expectation Maximization (LMEM) algorithm to sharpen the resulting sky image. We then compare these simulations to laboratory tests of the prototype NCT using multiple gamma-ray point sources.
