[33.01] Highly Absorbed Galactic Sources Revealed by INTEGRAL

R. Walter (INTEGRAL Science Data Centre), INTEGRAL Survey Team

With its mCrab sensitivity above 20 keV and large field of view the IBIS instrument on board INTEGRAL detected a number of new persistent or transcient hard X-ray sources observing the galactic plane.

Several highly absorbed (NH>1023cm-2) sources have been detected. Those sources are clustered in the Norma arm tangent region of the Galaxy and most probably form a new population of high mass X-ray binaries.

The INTEGRAL results will be reviewed in light of the X-ray and optical infrared follow-up observations.
