[31.06] Mars Express OMEGA observations of the Mars Exploration Rover sites and Coordinated analyses

F. Poulet (IAS, Université Paris-Sud), R. Arvidson (. Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Washington Univ.), J.P. Bibring (IAS, Université Paris-Sud), S. Squyres (Department of Atsronomy, Cornell University), Y. Langevin, B. Gondet, A. Gendrin (IAS, Université Paris-Sud), OMEGA Team, Athena Team

On board the Mars Express Orbiter, the OMEGA imaging spectrometer (0.38 to 5.1 micrometers, 352 bands, 350 m to 2 km footprints) observed the landing site regions of both Spirit and Opportunity, while the rover imaging systems and emission spectrometers were acquiring atmospheric and surface measurements. Near-simultaneous measurements were acquired during several passes. Cross-instruments analyses allowed detailed verification and modelling of spectral signatures for the surface and orbital observations. Results of the joint experiments will be presented, focussing on the mineralogy as found at a regional scale by OMEGA.
