[32.05] Submillimeter Monitoring of Sgr A* with SHARC II/CSO

We report on 450 and 850 micron monitoring of Sgr A* from the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory with SHARC II. A central point source is clearly visible at these wavelengths at 11" and 21" resolution, respectively; this emission is believed to come from plasma accreting onto, or ejected from, the supermassive black hole. Observations were carried out in March-April and September 2004 in coordination with other observatories. During the March-April run -- an apparently quiescent period -- the submillimeter flux density was on the low side of published values with a spectrum (in Jy) declining with increasing frequency. We describe searches for variability.
