[49.03] Recent Developments at the Arizona Radio Observatory

New technical developments are in progress at the Arizona Radio Observatory. This facility consists of the Sub-millimeter Telescope (SMT), located on Mt. Graham, Arizona, and the Kitt Peak 12m antenna. At the SMT, a new dual channel, single-side hand 120-300 GHz receiver has been installed, along with a newly-constructed 2048 channel 1 MHz filter bank. In addition, a 7-beam 345 GHz array receiver, Desert Star, will go into routine operation on the SMT in January 2005. Both the SMT and the 12m can be used in “remote observing” mode from virtually any location. (A new, Linux-based control system, based on the 12m model, has recently been installed at the SMT). The KP 12m is also unique in that it continuously covers the frequency range 65-180 GHz. Current status of these improvements will be presented.
