[163.02] Results on the Dusty Universe from the Spitzer GOODS 24 micron Survey

R. Chary (SSC, Caltech), GOODS Team

The Spitzer Space Telescope GOODS 24 micron Legacy observations of the Hubble Deep Field North provide unprecedented vistas into the dusty Universe by measuring the redshifted mid-infrared emission from dust in galaxies out to z~3. This provides strong constraints on dust corrections to rest-frame ultraviolet/optical emission in typical star-forming galaxies and AGN. Implications for galaxy formation and evolution will be discussed and a measure of the mid-infrared integrated galaxy light provided for comparison with TeV limits.
