[139.05] Simulating HII Emission with a Sphere and Shell Model

L. Kinnaman (Wittenberg University), M. Lebron (Arecibo Observatory)

The continuum and recombination line emission of HII regions were modeled with a series of increasingly more physically acurate geometrical models: a box, a sphere, and a sphere with a shell. The ionized hydrogen sphere surrounded by a partially ionized shell of different temperature and density in pressure equilibrium can match the recombination line emission of actual HII regions. This model only works when considered under non-LTE conditions.
