[27.09] The Iron Project and the RmaX Project: Analysis of Optical/NIR and X-ray spectra of Iron from Active Galactic Nuclei

We compute and apply high precision atomic data from the Iron/RmaX Projects to numerical simulations of (A) the broad line region spectra of Fe~I/II/III/IV from the prototypical NLyS1 galaxy I Zw 1, and (B) monochromatic X-ray opacities of the warm absorber in AGN. Ongoing work is part of two projects: The Iron Project that focuses on Fe-peak elements, and the RmaX Project aimed at spectral diagnostics of X-ray plasmas. The primary atomic processes include electron impact excitation, photoionization, (electron-ion) recombination, and spectral transitions. We demonstrate time-dependent spectral diagnostics of the 6.7 keV complex of He-like Fe XXV under transient conditions possible in flares and observable from Astro-2E. We compare the close coupling R-matrix data with the Distorted Wave approximation and the effect on X-ray spectral analysis. We describe the electronic database TIPTOPbase, which will also make available new stellar opacities and radiative accelerations from the Opacity Project.
