[42.04] GALEX-SDSS Crossmatch In The Database

T. Budavari (JHU), A. Conti (STScI), M. Seibert (Caltech), A. S. Szalay (JHU), GALEX Science Team

As the GALEX dataset is growing rapidly in size, it becomes imperative that we utilize efficient algorithms to crossmatch the catalog with other large surveys such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The GALEX database at the Multimission Archive at Space Telescope (MAST) is matched to SDSS within the SQL Server database. This framework provides more than just the cross-identification of astronomical sources, one can compute the overlapping regions of the complex survey footprints as well as the areal coverage of the intersection. We also create random catalogs in the database that are used in large scale structure studies.
