We present preliminary results from high-resolution imaging of stellar populations in the Local Group spiral galaxy M33, using the ACS, WFPC2 and NIC cameras on HST. The observations are designed to reach the oldest main sequence turnoffs around V = 28.5 in three disk fields ranging from 1.5 to 4 disk scale length from the nucleus; a fourth field closer to the nucleus will have somewhat shallower data because of crowding. Our goals are to derive the star formation history and the ages of the oldest stars in all four fields, and to determine the radial variation, if any, of the SFH. We will also obtain element abundances and metallicities for both interstellar gas and stars in M33 from ground-based spectroscopy to provide further constraints on metallicity evolution. The ultimate goal is to construct a constrained dynamical and chemical evolution model for M33 that can be compared with the Milky Way and more general models of galaxy evolution.
