[65.01] Weak Gravitational Lensing with SNAP

D. Huterer (University of Chicago), SNAP Collaboration

Weak gravitational lensing has emerged as one of the most promising cosmological probes to map out the distribution of dark matter in the universe and measure the properties of dark energy. We describe the weak lensing survey planned with the SuperNova/Acceleration Probe (SNAP). Being a survey from space, the SNAP weak lensing program would have a unique capabilty to map out cosmic shear on small angular scales with excellent control of the systematic errors. Several promising methods to measure the cosmological parameters using cosmic shear are presented; these include the two and three point correlation function of shear, and the purely geometric cross-correlation cosmography. The complementary power of these methods would lead to constraints on dark energy comparable to those from type Ia supernovae obtained with SNAP.
