[88.06] Stellar-Mass Black Holes and Galactic Source Surveys with EXIST

D. Chakrabarty (MIT), EXIST Team

The EXIST Black Hole Finder Probe will produce a continuous deep imaging survey of the hard X-ray sky throughout its mission. We discuss some of the applications of these data to the study of Galactic sources, including black hole and neutron star transients, the population of highly absorbed X-ray binaries revealed by INTEGRAL, and ultraluminous X-ray sources in nearby galaxies. The combination of continuous monitoring, wide spectral coverage, and high sensitivity over several years of observation will produce a uniquely powerful dataset.
