[148.10] Galaxies at Redshift ~6 in the Fields of Massive Clusters

W. Zheng, H. Ford (Johns Hopkins University), M. Postman (Space Telescope Science Institute), L. Infante, V. Motta (P. Universidad Catolica, Chile), ACS Science Team

The amplification by lensing effect of massive clusters enables us to study faint background galaxies in the fields. We have carried out a search for i-band dropout sources in the cluster fields in which HST/ACS optical images and ground-based J-band images have been obtained. These sources are likely galaxies at redshift ~6. The distribution of these sources will be compared with that in the deep fields such as GOODS and UDF, to show the potential of using clusters to extend our probe into the domain of even fainter universe. Supported by NASA grant NAG5-7697.
