[154.02] Cosmological Science Enabled by Planck, Part 1

M. White (UC, Berkeley)

Planck will provide the first ultra-precise measurement of the higher peaks in the CMB power spectra and the damping tail. In this talk I will review the basic physics contained in the higher peaks and the damping tail, describe what we learn from a detailed picture of these features and how that teaches us about the matter density, the power spectrum of the high redshift universe, inflation, and dark energy.
