The deep imaging in the Spitzer IRAC taken by the GOODS has probed the early universe to as far as z~6. These observations have detected more than a dozen z~ 5--6 galaxy candidates selected in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF), including some of those that have been spectroscopically confirmed. We discuss the constraints to the masses and the formation redshifts of z~q 5--6 galaxies provided by these new observations, which sample the rest-frame 5000---6000Å\ range and thus are not particularly sensitive to very young stars and are less prone to the effect of dust extinction.
