[31.05] The Shapes of Halos Around Edge-on Disk Galaxies in the SDSS Main Sample

L. R. Grodnicki (The University of Chicago)

We use the technique of Zibetti, White, and Brinkman MNRAS 2004, 347, 556, "Halos around edge-on disk galaxies in the SDSS", to detect halo light around the stacked image compiled from large numbers of SDSS edge-on disk galaxies. We will use the halos as tracers of the dark matter distribution, and compare the shapes, amplitudes, and colors of the light profiles of galaxies in different luminosity and size classes. We will also present an analysis of the quality of the sky subtraction and flat fielding by the SDSS photometric processing.
