[9.01] Hubble Space Telescope Observations of Two Brown Dwarf Binaries

J. Gizis, C. Russell (U. Delaware)

We have obtained Hubble Space Telescope near-infrared images of two nearby brown dwarf binaries using the NICMOS camera. Our multiband photometry includes bands dominated by methane and water absorption. Both systems are known to have late-L spectral types based on unresolved ground-based spectra; we use our photometry to classify the individual components. The secondaries are thought to be near the L/T dwarf transition.
