[37.06] Differences in the nucleosynthetic signatures of metal-poor stars in dSph galaxies and the Galactic halo

The new and independent environments offered by the Local Group dwarf galaxies allow us to examine fundamental assumptions about the nucleosynthesis of the elements. While the abundance ratios of alpha-elements to iron are often discussed, there are other elemental trends of interest. In this poster, we compare element ratios of Galactic field stars to metal-poor stars in the nearby dSph galaxies to discuss the relationships between the Na and Ni abundances and the Na and Mg abundances in terms of the nucleosynthesis of these elements. We also discuss a relationship between Si and Ti at intermediate metallicities that is seen in Galactic field stars, Galactic globular cluster stars, and stars in dSph galaxies. That the [Si/Ti] ratios plunge lower in dSph stars may argue for selective mass loss from these low mass galaxies at intermediate epochs.
