[43.16] Shape and topography of 9P/Tempel 1

Deep Impact conducted both an active cratering experiment on comet 9P/Tempel 1 and obtained the most detailed imaging of a comet's surface. Imaging at less than 10 m/pixel gave excellent data on the overall shape, and surface morphology of the nucleus. We report on the relative topographic positions of different features, such as craters, pits, ridges, fill of low areas, and remnant mesas. The spin pole orientation is RA=5, Dec=78 deg, with uncertainties of 5 degrees. The mean radius is approximately 3.2 km, and the long dimension is twice that of the short.
