We describe the FLAMINGOS-2 Galactic Center Survey (F2GCS) -- a near-infrared R ~1300 spectroscopic survey of ~5000 stars in the Galactic Center region. The F2GCS will use FLAMINGOS-2 -- the facility near-infrared wide-field imager and multi-object spectrograph for the Gemini 8-m telescopes, currently under construction at the University of Florida. The two primary science goals of this survey are: (a) spectroscopically identifying IR counterparts to several hundred Chandra X-ray sources in the Galactic Center; (b) developing a sample of several thousand red giant stars which can be used to determine the star formation history of the Galactic Center region. We will describe the basic features of FLAMINGOS-2, the F2GCS observational strategy, and the estimated scientific output of the survey. We will also present the preliminary pre-imaging survey for the F2GCS, recently completed using ISPI on the CTIO 4-m telescope.
