[70.13] An Analysis of the Accretion Rates and Binary Parameters of Three Dwarf Novae in outburst with newly determined distances

A. R. Riedel, E. M. Sion (Villanova University)

We present synthetic spectral analyses of IUE archival spectra and an HST STIS spectrum of three dwarf novae systems in outburst with newly determined distances: BC UMa, SW UMa, and TY Psc. All three systems are SU UMa systems below the period gap. For BC UMa and SW UMa, the best-fitting optically thick steady-state accretion disk models yield accretion rates of 3 x 10-9 Msun/year and white dwarf masses of around 0.6 Msun, for both systems. The white dwarf masses are consistent with earlier HST studies in the quiescent state (Gaensicke et al. 2005). We also report results of our analysis of the HST STIS spectrum of TY Psc. Implications of these findings will be discussed.
