[151.01] High-Energy Neutrinos from Leptonic Processes in GRBs.

K.V. Sapogin, T.W. Jones (University of Minnesota)

We investigate the leptonic mechanisms of production of high-energy neutrinos in GRBs. Specifically, we focus on the elastic up-scattering of background neutrinos by relativistic electrons. Since this channel does not involve protons, the limit based on the observed flux of high-energy cosmic rays (the Waxman-Bahcall limit) theoretically can be evaded. We discuss the results and applications to the GRB fireball model.
