[8.09] CO Distribution in HD 44179

C.J. Garner (Towson Univ.), A.D. Storrs (Towson Univ)

We present images showing the CO distribution in PNe HD 44179, colloquially known as the "Red Rectangle." These images were originally recorded with the NICMOS camera on the HST on 12 February 1998. Multiple filters were used to record the data, but our focus is on analyzing the data that was recorded using the F237M and F222M filters. These filters both detect CO emissions, with the first stated filter being in the CO band and the second one being a CO continuum filter. This data and other techniques will help us to create images showing the spatial distribution of CO in HD 44179.

The Hubble Space Telescope is operated by NASA and ESA. We wish to acknowledge the support of NASA Contract NAS5-26555.
