We present the results of a 40 ks Chandra ACIS-S3 observation of PG 1004+130 (z=0.24), an unusual radio-loud BAL QSO with a hybrid FRI/FRII radio morphology. The new Chandra spectrum varies from that obtained with XMM-Newton 1.7 years previously, displaying complex soft X-ray absorption not apparent in the earlier XMM data. There is no significant change in the hard band power-law photon index. PG 1004+130 shows an anomalously steep decline in intensity from optical-to-X-ray wavelengths and is quite X-ray weak relative to other RL QSOs, particularly in the soft band. The Chandra image also reveals a small-scale X-ray jet approximately 8.5'' (32.2 kpc) to the south-east of the core, aligned with the FRI jet but upstream of the radio brightness peak. The jet is 60 times less X-ray luminous than the core and is not detected by HST; the optical upper limit rules out a simple single-component synchrotron interpretation of the X-ray emission.
