[91.06] N-body simulations of the early evolution of globular clusters

E. Vesperini, S. McMillan (Drexel University), S. Zepf (Michigan State University)

I will present the results of a large number of N-body simulations of the early evolution of globular clusters. A possible mechanism to explain the origin of the mass segregation observed in very young clusters and its consequences for their long term evolution will be discussed. Results on the effects of the galactic tidal field on the structural and kinematical properties of young clusters will also be presented.
