E.V. Linder (UC Berkeley, LBL), SNAP Collaboration
The Supernova/Acceleration Probe (SNAP) will provide not only dramatic improvements in measurement accuracy of dark energy properties, but also fundamental insights through an ability to test assumptions of the cosmological framework. These include going "beyond Lambda", beyond constant equation of state to the dynamical variation of dark energy, and testing the geometry (flatness) and the gravity beyond Einstein. This is accomplished through comprehensive supernova distance and weak gravitational lensing surveys, and a manifold wide field imaging program. We also present a useful new visualization of the nature of dark energy and the effects of accelerating expansion.
