[38.05] QUEST, a Quasar / ULIRG Evolutionary STudy with Spitzer/IRS

S. Veilleux (University of Maryland), QUEST Team

The preliminary results from our medium-size Cycle-1 IRS study of 54 massive gas-rich mergers in the local universe are presented. These results are combined with structural and kinematic parameters derived from ancillary HST and VLT data to provide valuable information on the energy production mechanisms in these objects and the obscuration and physical conditions along the merger sequence.

The PI and his team acknowledge partial support of this work from NASA/JPL grant #1263752.
