[128.07] Adaptive Optics Observations of Star Forming Regions in the Core of the Galaxy Merger NGC 6240

We present images of the central 5 kpc of the galaxy merger NGC 6240 at H and K' bands, taken with the NIRC2 narrow camera on Keck in natural guide star adaptive optics mode. We detect about 15 star forming regions near the galaxy merger's dual nuclei and compare to archival HST WFPC2 images with similar spatial resolution at B and I bands. We discuss properties of the star forming regions including their relative sizes, colors, masses, and ages, and how these properties are related to the surrounding environment.
