We present early results from a FUSE survey of local starburst galaxies. We combine ongoing observations from the FUSE Starburst Legacy Project with archival observations to create a relatively large sample of high quality FUV spectra. The FUV regime contains many important diagnostics which can provide important insight into the effects of star formation both locally, and by comparison, at high redshifts. For example, OVI(1032) plays an vital role in constraining the energetics of starburst-driven outflows as it is the dominant cooling mechanism for coronal gas. CII(1036) absorption limits the escape fraction of ionizing photons from starbursts which is necessary in understanding the evolution of the IGM. Chemical abundances seen in the FUV can determine the metallicities of starburst galaxies and outflows which pollute the IGM at high redshifts. This survey allows an unique view of starburst galaxies which will play an important role in constraining galaxy formation and evolution.
