We examine the rates and properties of type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) in relation to the physical parameters defining their host galaxy stellar populations. Using a sample of 114 spectroscopically confirmed SNe Ia discovered via the Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) distributed over 0.2
