[82.06] Diameters of Solar Analog Stars

H. R. Schmitt, T. A. Pauls, J. T. Armstrong, R. B. Hindsley (NRL)

We will present the results of an ongoing project to measure the diameters of solar analog stars using optical interferometry. Our sample consists of stars brighter than V=5 mag, with spectral types F2 to K1 and luminosity classes III, IV and V. Observations were done with the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI), covering the wavelength range 550nm-850nm and using baselines with lengths between 20 m and 80 m, which give a maximum resolution of the order of 1.8 mas. Besides measuring the diameters of the stars we also fit limb darkening models, which provide a test to theoretical predictions.
