Session 17 - Data Archives & Tools.
Display session, Wednesday, January 07
Exhibit Hall,
The Astronomical Data Center (ADC) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is a major archive and distribution center for computer-readable versions of astronomical catalogs and journal data tables. The ADC's archives contain more than 2100 catalogs and tables of astrometry, photometry, spectroscopy, radio, high energy, and other miscellaneous data for stellar and non-stellar objects. To improve the usability of these data holdings, we have developed a simple data viewing and visualization capability by building on work done for the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program. This capability allows researchers to subset, resort, select table columns for display, and view or plot the selected data via the Web. Related developments, notably linkage and display of NASA mission data are discussed. These capabilities can be accessed from the Web page http://adf.gsfc.nasa.gov/adf/visualization.
