R.I. Thompson (Steward Observatory, University of Arizona.)
In January of 1998 the NICMOS instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope observed at portion of the Hubble Deep Field at two wavelengths, 1.1 and 1.6 microns. Roughly 100 galaxies were observed that do not appear in the optical catalog of this region. The nature of these galaxies and other properties of the infrared HDF images will be discussed.
