[71.10] A Search for Southern Hot Cores

We have performed a search for hot molecular cores in the southern sky using the SEST telescope. We observed 17 sources in several rotational transitions of methyl cyanide (CH3CN). From these data we construct rotation diagrams and derive estimates for the CH3CN rotational temperatures and column densities. Based on these data we present several candidates for new hot core sources. Possible source morphologies and velocity structures are discussed.
