[67.03] A Different Approach to Convective Nucleosynthesis

A. Baleisis, D. Arnett (Univ. of Arizona)

We present an extension to the particle hydrodynamics approach, which includes detailed nucleosynthesis and energy generation using a realistic, pre-supernova stellar model as a background. We examine the entropy changes in a convective blob as it moves along its trajectory through the heating and cooling regions of the massive star. Initial results and difficulties encountered in the development of this approach will be presented.

Our goal is to better understand the interplay between nucleosynthesis and convection in hydrodynamic simulations.
