We present X-ray spectral images and spatially resolved spectra of the Cas A supernova remnant from first light data taken with ACIS on Chandra. These are the first available high spatial resolution images of the distribution of X-ray emission from Si, S, and Fe, and other elements; they show that the emission from Fe is distributed differently from that of Si and S. Spectra taken from different regions of the bright shell show significant differences in emission line strengths. These arise in part from differences in plasma conditions but are also likely to indicate differences in the distribution of elements in the ejecta.
