We present the results of an analysis of Chandra X-ray Observatory data for the open cluster NGC 2516, sometimes referred to as ``the southern Pleiades''. This young, very rich southern open cluster is generally believed to have a metallicity significantly below solar. The study of coronal emission properties of NGC 2516 members allows us to probe the effects of metallicity on the efficiency of dynamo action. Dynamo efficiency is expected to depend on convection zone properties and be strongly affected by metal abundances.
Our analysis of both HRC and ACIS images has yielded about 100 X-ray detections. We present the identifications of new X-ray sources with photometric cluster members and compare our new {\em Chandra} results with those of ROSAT. We also discuss the X-ray properties of late-type members in comparison with those of corresponding stellar types in the more metal rich approximately coeval Pleiades Cluster.
