[34.13] Chandra Observations of Cooling Flows

A.C. Fabian (Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge, UK)

Cooling flows in clusters of galaxies are excellent targets for Chandra. Images of the Perseus, A1795, A2199 and other clusters will be presented. Structures are seen associated in some with the radio lobes of a central radio source and in others with the cooling gas. Colour maps are translated into density and temperature distributions and are used to guide selection of regions for detailed spectral attention. The implications of our results from Chandra data for the cooling rate of matter in the cores of clusters will be discussed.
