[12.18] D/H Ratio in the Jovian Atmosphere

C.D. Parkinson, J.C. McConnell (Dept. of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Canada), D. Gautier (Observatoire de Paris, France), L. Ben Jaffel (Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris-CNRS, France)

The Jovian D/H problem can be approached three ways: a) D & H Ly-\alpha, Ly-\beta, b) CH3D and CH4, and c) HD and H2 (from ISO/Galileo probe). The same atmospheric model should provide the same D/H ratio regardless of technique used. We have extensively studied the D/H problem utilising these approaches and report the results of our analysis which compare very favourably with various observations in most cases.
