A key role in the X-ray emission from accreting pulsars is played by the strong magnetic field present in the sources of this class.

The study of cyclotron line features is indeed a powerful tool to directly probe the effects of the magnetic fields. In this paper we combine phase resolved spectroscopy and evolution of pulse profile with the energy to unveil aspects that can not be resolved with the studies of average spectra and profiles.

Using BeppoSAX observations, results on Vela X-1, X0115+063, 4U1538-52 will be presented and discussed.
