[42.09] Discovery of Hard X-rays from Class 0 candidates in the Orion Molecular Cloud 2/3 region with Chandra

We have observed a 17' \times 17' field in the Orion Molecular Cloud 2 and 3 region with the Chandra X-ray Observatory. A 90 ksec exposure of ACIS in 0.5--8 keV band revealed about 300 sources, in which 90 % are new detection in X-ray wavelength. From 7 of the 36 Class 0 candidates, we detected highly absorbed X-rays (L_{\rm x} ~10³⁰ erg s^-1, N_{\rm H} ~10²³ H cm^-2). Then these results would be the first evidence that X-rays are emitted from very early phase of stellar evolution, possibly in the age of less than 10⁵ year.
