We present results of a ~63 ksec Chandra HRC-I observation of the Orion Trapezium region. We have detected about 700 distinct sources most of which associated with known Orion Nebula Cluster members. The superb angular resolution of the Chandra mirrors frees our analysis from the source confusion problems that have plagued previous investigations of the X-ray emission of this fascinating region and allow us to explore the relations among X-ray emission levels and other stellar parameters in a large sample of PMS stars.

This work is funded in part by NASA contract NAS8-39073 and NASA grant NAS5-4967
