[13.17] Chandra observations of the cooling flow cluster Abell 1835

R. W. Schmidt, S. W. Allen, A. C. Fabian (Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge)

We present the analysis of Chandra observations of the massive galaxy cluster Abell 1835. The high spatial resolution of Chandra enables us to study in detail variations of the X-ray spectrum with radius from the central cooling flow out to radii of a Megaparsec. In particular, we can measure the mass deposition rate and the excess absorption in the cooling flow as a function of radius. In the cluster core we find evidence for substructure of the X-ray emission on scales of several kiloparsecs.
